Deleting an office printer from your Microsoft Windows 7 system is usually a straightforward process. Uninstalling

Uninstalling a printer from the Windows operating system usually entails clicking the Windows “Start” button, clicking the “Devices and Printers” option, right-clicking on the entry for the printer you want to uninstall, clicking the “Remove Device” option from the context menu, and then clicking “Yes” when prompted. You also need to make sure that the printer is not connected to the computer via a USB cable. For a wireless printer, turn off the printer so that the connection is unavailable to the computer.

Delete All Documents From Queue

The first step to take when uninstalling a printer is to delete all remaining documents from the queue. Click the Windows “Start” button, click “Devices and Printers,” click on the entry for the specific printer in the “Devices and Printers' window, right-click on each document still in the folder, and then click “Cancel” from the context menu. Repeat to delete each document from this folder, which is the print queue. If you cannot cancel the documents, unplug the printer and try again. Occasionally, documents get hung up in the printer’s buffer, so unplugging the printer breaks the connection between the computer and the printer, allowing the documents to be canceled.

Run as Administrator

If the printer was installed using administrative rights, the operating system requires that you run the Uninstall command with administrative privileges. Click the Windows “Start” button, click “Devices and Printers,” right-click on the entry for the printer to uninstall, and then click “Run as Administrator.” Click the “Remove Device” option, and then type the administrator password, when prompted.

Verify the Printer's Removal

The printer you have removed should not be listed if the printer and all drivers have been successfully removed.
